I recently have begun to learn Hebrew, and have noticed that the Hebrew alphabet is in psalm 119. Why is this?
It’s called an “acrostic”. It’s when the first letter of each line has some sort of meaning when you put them together (sometimes it’s the name of the author, sometimes it’s the order of the alphabet…). Writers used to write these types of acrostics to help people remember the verses. It’s easier to recall the next line if you know what the first letter is.
